You can always call my_error from within doCreateTable. embedded_innodb engine does this.

@Jobin Augustine It's not a stupid question at all. As far as I can see, there isn't such a case at the moment but it would be nice since the kernel could prompt a more meaningful error to the user.

Sorry if am asking stupid question.

if i understand correctly, your suggession is to allow storage engine to read the options directly from protobuf message.
if that is correct, will there be a case where kernel need to know which option is errored out?
